Best place to stay on Block Island – Hands Down!
I am familiar with Block Island and have been going there all my life. I recently spent Thanksgiving at the Avonlea, a place I had admired from afar, but never had the opportunity to stay there. I was more than amazed!!! The staff is very warm, attentive and wonderful. I felt as if it were my own home! The stunning views, views, views are the very best on the island! Avonlea sits directly on the beach, like no other Inn on the island. I could see and hear the calming ocean waves from my bed! This beautiful Inn was spectacular, very elegant and tasteful. Most hotels on Block Island are very old and it shows. Avonlea was the perfect combination of old Victorian charm and clean, beautiful, up-to-date amenities. Unlike other hotels on the island, Avonlea is a convenient walk from the ferry. Others, one must lug all their belongings up steep hills or take taxis to-and-fro. Avonlea is right where you’d want to be, close by all the shops and restaurants, at the same time it is very quiet and private. It was not noisy at night, all I could hear was the surf. The Thanksgiving dinner was sublime! Talented chefs prepared every tiny detail, all arranged with guests in mind. There were musicians playing piano and guitar and we all joined in for a sing-a-long in the evening. I had an experience I will remember for my lifetime and I have no reason to stay elsewhere on the island. whether you are a family or a single, I highly recommend this lovely island treasure.

Perfect place to weekend or wed!
We’ve stayed at the Avonlea many times and absolutely love it. The rooms are very nice, the view from the wrap-around porch and many of the rooms is just breathtaking. They serve a home-cooked breakfast every day as well as afternoon wine and apps. We love staying here.
After so many nice stays, when we got engaged, we knew right away we wanted to get married here! Such a wonderful spot if your wedding is very small (the Inn itself is quite small, so wouldn’t work for a typical sized wedding). Holly, the Innkeeper, is fantastic. She helped us throughout the whole process, and was there to make sure everything went as planned. I don’t know what I would have done without her! (Thank you, Holly!) And the wedding was picture perfect. We said our vows at sunset and had the reception on the wrap-around porch. I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to get married. We are very appreciative to Ann for sharing her place with us, and everyone on staff who helped make it an amazing day.
I couldn’t more highly recommend the Avonlea for a simple weekend stay, a week-long getaway, or an event, especially a wedding. 🙂

Awesome Off-Season Stay
The staff of the Blue Dory is extremely friendly and professional. The place is cozy, clean, well appointed, and close to everything, without feeling right in the middle of it. Evening gatherings for guests over wine, appetizers, and amazing cookies add a lovely touch. We were there two weeks before Memorial Day–a perfect time to visit Block Island. Most of the inns had some construction going on to recover from winter, and the Blue Dory managed challenge of that work along side tourists who couldn’t stay away with grace and generosity. Plus, The extra bonus of visiting the island before the season starts: the seals on the northern tip of the island! Block Island is a special place and the Blue Dory is a perfect way to access it.

welcoming inn on Block Island
We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Dory Inn very much. Cozy little Doll House for our accomodations. left the window open at night to listen to the surf. so great. But when they say it’s a small room, they mean its a small room but it was very good for us. Breakfasts are good, company is good, happy hour is fun, and you cannot beat the location. We would rebook in a heartbeat.

Peace and comfort by the sea
My husband and I celebrated our 34th anniversary this past weekend at The Blue Dory Inn. The location is ideal in town and by the beach. No car needed! Our room had a lovely view of the ocean so sleeping was dreamy listening to the waves and having the fresh air blow in through the open windows.
Ann and Bobbi were available and so inviting making us feel truly at home. And those cookies…
Cocktail hour had these wonderful cookies complimenting the welcoming vibe.
We look forward to our next visit to Block Island and coming home to The Blue Dory Inn.Worcester, Massachusetts

Unsurpassed service
Just returned from a stay at the Blue Dory. The owner and her staff go ‘beyond the call’ to make your stay memorable. From the ease of check-in, to the MOST COMFORTABLE Bed, the amazing freshly cooked breakfasts, the wine and cheese gatherings at 5:00 (including homemade cookies!!), the LOCATION (a 5 min walk from ferry), and the friendliest staff this side of Chicago……shall I keep going?? This is NO hype. We keep returning because of Ann and her top-of-the-mark staff. Thank you all for another wonderful stay……at the Blue Dory Inn! ❤️❤️

Mid week escape to peace by the sea.
The Blue Dory Inn is our home away from home! Second time staying with them and once again the experience was warm and wonderful. The Inn itself is situated in town with the beach directly in the back yard. Our room “Arabella” was spic and span clean, a wonderful hot and strong stream of water in the shower, two big windows looking out on the beautifully quaint garden (early June). Beach chairs and towels, Amazing breakfast and lots of hot delicious coffee. Our hostess was so friendly, 5pm happy hour with wine and cheese and cookies. All this and a house cat too! Simon was lounging about keeping his eye on all that goes on. I highly recommend a stay at the Blue Dory Inn.

Cozy, Comfortable + Dog Friendly!
My husband and I stayed at the Blue Dory Inn during Race Week this year, and we were so happy with the service, comfortable and clean accommodations, and helpful and friendly staff. We were also very pleased that they are one of only a few hotels on the island that accommodate dogs, and we will stay there again for sure! I loved being able to sit in the rocking chair on the front porch with a glass of wine at the end of the day to watch the passers by. A big plus is the complimentary breakfast that includes a variety of homemade items and eggs, and there is always coffee or tea available. I highly recommend this Inn. It was truly a pleasure and we hope to be able to stay there again.
