The main number 401-466-5891 is for reservations or cancellations only. Our reservationist is not on island and won’t be able to help you with island related questions. Please call the Block Island Chamber of Commerce for restaurant reservations, shop hours, special events, car or bike rental related questions. Our innkeepers will be happy to help you with this once you arrive. Due to the high demand of bookings for our beautiful properties, so you must leave a message in order to be called back. We answer our phones from 9-5, seven days a week.
Please read the notes below regarding your stay
- Coffee is available at 7:15am in the Bistro at the Blue Dory and Parlor of the Avonlea. Additionally, we have small coffee makers in each room with packets of coffee. They are NOT Keurig or Nespresso pods.
- Breakfast is available from 8-10 am. Feel free to take your tray to our front porch or back patio to enjoy!
- Wine Service is available for pickup at 5:00 in the Bistro or Parlor. We have a crisp white or a merlot, lemonade, and our famous Block Island Barnacle cookies for you to choose from.
- The Guest Refrigerator and Ice are available 24 hours a day
Each room comes with linens, towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, shower cap, and a hairdryer. Irons are available upon request. We do not have ironing boards. Should you need fresh towels, toiletries, etc., please let your innkeeper know!
Parking for the Blue Dory is located in the SMALL fenced-in lot behind Sherman Cottage and the retail stores to the left of the Blue Dory. If there is no space there, please park at the Avonlea (has its own parking lot)- 597 Corn Neck Rd. Unauthorized cars/mopeds parked in the BI Beach House lot will be towed. There is no charge for parking.
Beach chairs are available on the back left of the Blue Dory or the side of the Avonlea. Beach Towels are located in the lobby. Please drop used beach towels off by the chairs at the end of each day.
Please utilize the hose on the left side of the building at Blue Dory for rinsing off after the beach, and front shower to rinse off at the Avonlea. Excessive sand in the room will result in an additional cleaning fee added to your bill.
A bike rack is just behind the Inn by the beach chairs at the Blue Dory and near the parking area of the Avonlea.
Help yourself to Maps & Guides on the tea cart or in the parlor area of the Avonlea.
Our front door is always open. Please let our resident feline Simon in if you see him outside the Blue Dory Inn. Simon is not allowed inside the Avonlea, as this is a pet free property.
Check out is at 11 am and check in is at 3 pm but feel free to drop your luggage in the parlor for the day if needed! There is a guest bathroom to the left of the hutch in the Blue Dory lobby for your use. A guest bathroom is right off of the parlor area in the Avonlea.
CAN WE GET AN EARLY CHECK IN?
We can’t guarantee early check in’s, but if your room is ready before 3:00 PM, we will call the phone number we have on file to let you know! Your card on file will be charged upon check in unless otherwise instructed.
CAN WE GET A LATE CHECK OUT?
Occasionally we are able to give you a later check out, just ask the innkeeper on site. We will charge you a half day’s rate if you are scheduled to depart and don’t notify or ask us to stay later.
Internet and TVs are the first thing to go out on the island if it is overcast or raining. This is out of our control. If you have an important meeting coming up it is suggested that you bring your own hotspot with you.
If you need anything during business hours, please text or call the innkeeper on island. They will provide you with their cell phone number upon check in.
The Blue Dory was built in 1898 – we love our AC units, but the building cannot handle massive power demand. Please turn off the AC when running hairdryers to avoid tripping a breaker. THANK YOU and we look forward to hosting your stay!
