General Terms & Conditions:
A 50% before tax deposit is taken upon booking to secure your reservation. The final balance is due 3 days prior to your arrival and will be charged to the card on file unless you reach out to us earlier to change payment.
Inn rates are based on double occupancy. Please be sure to confirm your accommodations if you are traveling with more than two guests. There is an additional $30 per night fee for each additional person.
Absolutely No Smoking inside or on porches; however designated outdoor smoking areas are available. There is a $350 fee for anyone found smoking inside.
Children of all ages are welcome at the Blue Dory Inn and in all Cottages and Suites. Pets are welcome in some rooms in Blue Dory and all cottages and suites. Where pets are welcome there is a $30 per pet per night fee.
The Avonlea is happy to accommodate children over the age of 16. There are no pets permitted in this facility.

Pet Policy
Pets are still allowed at all of our Cottages and Suites, as well as Avalon, Arabelline, Arabella, and Rosewind in the Blue Dory. There is a $30/night per pet.
- Pets are permitted on the beach; however, it is best that they be on a leash.
- Please clean up after your pet for the enjoyment of all. Please do not throw the bag inside our trash cans, there is a trash located across the street.
- Please make sure that your pet is properly vaccinated since you will be responsible if your pet should injure someone.
- A hose is available on the south side of the Blue Dory to wash your pet off when coming off the beach.
- We will provide pet blankets for your utilization in order to protect the furnishings, therefore, please leave blankets in the room upon your departure.
- Should your pet cause damage to linens, walls, doors, rugs, etc. please bring this to our attention so that we may provide you with a cost for replacement and we will charge the credit card on file. If the cost is not readily known, we will contact you with this information and we will charge the credit card on file.
- We ask that you not leave your pet unattended in the room as they tend to bark in strange environments. On occasion, we have made special arrangements to allow pets to be unattended if we have a cell phone number to contact you at all times.
Cancellation:
Please kindly note that cancellations affect us significantly due to the intimate size of our boutique Inns. If it is necessary for you to change or cancel your reservation, all cancellations or reservation change requests must be communicated via email directly to: [email protected]
Peak season is (May 24 – Oct 14, 2024). If your travel plans change during our peak season, you must cancel your reservation with 30 days notice by phone or email.
If you cancel at least 30 days prior to your arrival date, we will extend a refund of your deposit less a 10% cancellation fee (This is 10% of your whole reservation subtotal before tax).
In the unlikely event that you must cancel with less than 30 days notice, we will extend a credit of your deposit towards a future stay less a 20% cancellation fee (This is 20% of your whole reservation subtotal before tax). Your credit will be valid for 2 years from the date of cancellation.
However, If you cancel 3 days or less, please kindly note, your balance will be paid in full and there will be a 100% cancellation fee.
In our “Off-season” from Oct 15, 2024 – May 22, 2025 the required notice is 14 days and the same policy applies.
We do not offer refunds or credits for late arrivals or early departures.
If the ferry and airline are canceled due to inclement weather on your arrival day, you have the choice of confirming for the remainder of your visit or the cost of your stay will be credited towards a future stay, valid for 2 years.
If the ferry or airline is canceled and you are unable to leave the Island, the rate will be 50% off our regular room rate for every night that you need to extend your stay.
Rates/policies are subject to change and vary during high impact periods and special requests.
CANCELLATION POLICIES MAY BE DIFFERENT IF BOOKED ON ANY 3RD PARTY SITES.
A 90 day cancellation notice is required on whole house bookings and for holidays and special events. If less than 90 days notice is given, the deposit will not be refunded.
Check-in:
*Check-in: 3:00 PM. We ask that you confirm expected arrival times off of the ferry before your stay. This helps us create a smooth check-in process everyday so we appreciate you providing this information. If arriving after 7:00 PM, please call to make arrangements. You may drop off bags prior to check-in. There is a bathroom for you to use, as well as beach chairs and beach towels, until your room is ready. We will do our best to have rooms ready as early as possible, but can never guarantee an early check-in.
*Check-out: 11:00 AM. You are welcome to leave your bags with us until your scheduled ferry, and you may use the beach chairs and towels until you leave. We cannot grant a late check out prior to your reservation and we cannot guarantee that we are able to grant requests in high season.
Check-in for the Blue Dory Inn, all Cottages, Waverly Suites and Sherman Cottage are located at the Blue Dory Inn at 61 Dodge St.
Check-In for the Avonlea, Jewel of the Sea is located at 597 Corn Neck Rd.
Breakfast:
Early coffee is served daily at 7:15. Breakfast is 8am-10am, which is included in your rate. The breakfast is served buffet style with a daily hot dish, baked goods, fresh fruit and more.
Breakfast is not included for the Sherman Cottage or the Whitestone Cottage.
Wine Hour:
Afternoon wine, lemonade, cheese, snacks and our famous Barnacle cookies are served every day at 5 pm-6 pm.
Daily Housekeeping:
There are Please Make Up Room and Do Not Disturb door hangers in each room. We kindly ask that you place either side out for our housekeepers after breakfast. As always, we encourage the reuse of towels to conserve water and resources. If new towels or sheets are needed during the stay, they can be requested by contacting the Innkeeper. Unless Do Not Disturb sign is on the door, housekeeping will refresh your room daily, which includes providing fresh towels if they are not hung, removing garbage, and making up the bed.
Receptacles for recyclables are located on each floor of the Blue Dory (main house) and Avonlea. Please use these designated bins only for bottles, cans, plastic, and newspaper to help us recycle properly.
Amenities:
Each room comes with shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, and a hairdryer. Irons, shower caps, and other easily forgotten items are available upon request.
A community guest refrigerator is available for necessities at both Blue Dory and Avonlea. We ask that they are only used for necessary items. Please label items with a name, room, and date. Food and drink that is not clearly marked will be disposed of on a daily basis.
There is an ice machine available at Blue Dory and Avonlea accessible at all times. There are ice buckets available to keep the ice cold. If you will be needing an excess of ice, it can be purchased at the Red Bird or BI Grocery.
Extra blankets, pillows, and towels are available upon request.
Parking is available, but we encourage our guests to leave their car on the mainland if it is not necessary to have. There are bike racks as well.
Beach Chairs:
Beach chairs and beach towels will be provided at all properties. After returning from the beach, please place the chairs in the designated return location and towels in the return basket.
Special Touches:
We are happy to offer extra amenities; call or email us 48 hours before your arrival to arrange special touches for an additional fee. The available options can be viewed HERE. We do our best to have these in the room upon check-in, but guarantee them before you turn down for the evening.
Souvenirs:
Blue Dory and Avonlea souvenirs, and other small gifts are available to take home with you and are displayed in the common areas. Please ask your innkeeper if you would like to purchase anything. These items can be charged to the room or can be paid for with cash.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of your information, Block Island Inns has implemented numerous physical, electronic, and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. However, it is impossible for us to fully guarantee that these measures will prevent any or all unauthorized use of your information. We also do not share, sell, or give to any 3rd party’s any personal or private information except when processing your credit card payment your credit card details are provided to our PCI Compliant Payment Processor and Gateway to process your payment only no data is saved during the payment process.
